Who sees your child

Paediatricians from the country's leading children's hospitals

Your child is seen by consultant paediatricians whose careers span Great Ormond Street (GOSH) and leading NHS children's hospitals — genuinely experienced specialists who have looked after thousands of children. The kind of doctor you'd hope to see, without the wait.

  • Consultant level

Senior, specialist paediatricians — not a quick once-over.

  • GOSH & top NHS hospitals

Trained and practised where the most complex children are cared for.

  • Children are all they do

A child is not a small adult — and is never treated like one here.

One check-up, sized to their age

Children aren't small adults, and a 4-year-old isn't a 14-year-old. Each package is built for its age band — same goal every time: growing well, developing soundly, nothing missed.

Younger bands answer “are the foundations right?” — older bands answer “is growth on track, and why?” Pick by birthday; we'll fine-tune by child.

Big questions

The questions every parent quietly Googles at 11pm

You've noticed something — or you just wonder. That's not anxiety; that's attention. These are exactly the things an experienced paediatrician is trained to see early — and early is where the good outcomes live.

?Is she just shy — or is it something more?

What we look for — Early neurodevelopmental signs — attention, speech, play, social interaction, sensory responses — through structured, age-appropriate observation and the questions parents know the answers to.

If we spot something — An unhurried explanation, and where useful, referral for full assessment (incl. ADHD/autism assessment pathways) — months earlier than the usual waiting route.

?Why is he the smallest in his class?

What we look for — Growth-curve position and trend, bone-age X-ray analysis (is the skeleton younger, older or right on time?), IGF-1 growth factor and hormones where indicated — the difference between “late bloomer” and “worth treating, now”.

If we spot something — Paediatric endocrinology pathway, fast-tracked with the work-up already done.

?Is that squint… normal? Does she see the board?

What we look for — Visual capacity by age — acuity, alignment, the squints and habits parents notice first

If we spot something — Internal referral to an ophthalmologist through MEDii

?Are those teeth coming in right?

What we look for — Dental and bite development — eruption pattern, alignment, denture abnormalities, the early orthodontic tells

If we spot something — Internal referral to dental specialists

One visit. The four big questions, answered by someone who's seen thousands of children — and knows which ones need a closer look.

The MEDii difference

Screening that can actually do something

Our checks are led by consultant paediatricians inside a multidisciplinary medical centre — so an abnormality isn't a worried note on a report, it's investigated and acted on in good time. Eyes to the ophthalmologist, teeth to the dental specialist, growth to endocrinology, tummies to gastro — internal referrals, one record, one team, the best care for your child without you project-managing it.

Caught early

Small signs found at the age when intervention works best.

Referred internally

The right specialist, often within days

One-stop reassurance

You leave knowing — either “all is well” with evidence, or “here's the plan” with a date.

And honestly? Every problem we catch early is one less child in an NHS queue later — good for your family, good for everyone's.

)

One check is a snapshot. Every year makes it a story.

Growth curves, bone age, vision and milestones tracked year on year in your child's MEDii record — so “is this normal?” always has last year's answer to compare against.

  • Annual reminder when the next check is due
  • Red-book digitised into the record
  • Pairs with family screening — parents checked the same morning

On the day

Designed for small patients (and their nervous grown-ups)

  1. 1

    A gentle start

Toys out, no rush; the paediatrician chats with you both while your child forgets to be worried.

  2. 2

    Checks that feel like games

Measuring, looking, listening, play-based development observation; bloods (where needed) with numbing cream and expert distraction. Stickers are non-negotiable.

  3. 3

    The grown-up conversation

What we found, what's typical, what's worth watching — in plain language, English or 中文, with the questions you came in with actually answered.

  4. 4

    The written story

A bilingual report with growth curves and clear next steps (usually: “all well — see you next year”; sometimes: “here's the referral, here's the date”).

Parents ask us

My child seems fine — is this necessary?

That's exactly when it's most useful. Screening isn't for ill children — it's how well children stay that way, and how quiet signs get caught while they're easy to act on.

Will there be needles?

Only where the package (and your child's age) genuinely needs them — always with numbing cream, distraction and patience. Many younger checks need no blood at all.

Can you really assess things like ADHD or autism?

We screen for early signs and tell you honestly what we see; full assessment, where useful, is arranged through the right specialists'll never do is label a child from a checklist.

What's a bone-age X-ray and is it safe?

A single hand X-ray compared against your child's age — a tiny radiation dose, used only where growth questions justify it.

Do parents stay in the room?

Always. For teens, we also offer part of the conversation one-to-one — respectfully, with your agreement.

Can we book the whole family together?

Yes — children's checks alongside Wellman and Wellwoman, one morning, everyone sorted.
