About Dr Nikhil Ahluwalia
Dr Nikhil Ahluwalia is an Academic Cardiologist who trained at Barts Heart Centre — one of Europe's largest and most renowned cardiothoracic centres. He completed his cardiology training at Barts Health NHS Trust from ST4 to CCT, gaining both General Cardiology accreditation and subspecialty accreditation in Electrophysiology and Devices, followed by a post-CCT Clinical Fellowship in Electrophysiology subspecialising in Atrial Fibrillation. Funded by a Barts Charity Clinical Research Training Fellowship, he completed his PhD at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London, researching the cardiovascular features during atrial fibrillation that predict response to catheter ablation — work for which he received the Heart Rhythm Society Young Investigator Award at HRS 2026 in Chicago. He is currently a Post-CCT Clinical Research Fellow at UCLA studying autonomic mechanisms in cardiac arrhythmias, an elected representative of the British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS) and BACPR, and former Digital and Communications Lead for the British Junior Cardiologists' Association.
