Assess first, then act

A doctor-led assessment, not a guess

  1. A doctor assessing a patient
    1

    Assess

A GP working alongside our pain-management consultant grades how severe your pain is and pinpoints its likely origin.

  2. An ultrasound probe scanning
    2

    Direct the testing

They decide what's needed — bloods, imaging, or nothing further — so you're neither over-tested nor under-investigated.

  3. A clinician treating a patient
    3

    Relieve

Where the cause is clear, treatment starts the same visit — from medication to a targeted injection or acupuncture.

  4. A consultant explaining results to a patient

    Or triage

Where it needs more, you're fast-tracked to advanced testing or the right specialist — with your results already in hand.

You leave knowing what's wrong and what happens next.

Western precision, Eastern wisdom

Acupuncture is recognised in the UK as an effective option for pain — NICE recommends considering it for chronic primary pain, and the evidence is strongest for migraine. MEDii is proud to be a pioneer in combining Western diagnosis, assessment and management with the oriental wisdom and precision of acupuncture — so your pain plan draws on the best of both.

  • Recognised for pain

NICE recommends considering acupuncture for chronic primary pain; the evidence is strongest for migraine.

  • A drug-light option

Used on its own or alongside your medical plan — helpful if you'd rather ease off painkillers.

  • The best of both

Western diagnosis and management, combined with the precision of traditional acupuncture.

How our acupuncture works

Acupuncture at MEDii is delivered by a trained practitioner as a complement to medical care, not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment.

What we help with

What we help with

Common, minor pain — assessed quickly and taken seriously.

Acute joint pain

Sprains, strains, knees, shoulders, gout flares — with MSK ultrasound on-site.

Abdominal (stomach) pain

Ongoing or recurring tummy pain that needs a cause, not just a painkiller.

Pelvic pain

Lower-abdominal and pelvic pain in men and women.

Period pain

Painful or disruptive periods — assessed, with onward women's-health care if needed.

Migraine & headache

Recurring migraine and headache — assessment, relief options and prevention advice.

Back, neck & nerve pain

Mechanical back and neck pain, and nerve-type pain such as sciatica.

Unexplained pain & discomfort

Pain with no obvious cause — exactly what a structured assessment is for.

Not sure where your pain fits? Tell us your symptom and we'll guide you. Severe chest, abdominal or sudden severe pain → see the red flags above (A&E first).

How we treat pain

Five ways we tackle pain

Once we know the cause, we match the method — often combining a few, all under a doctor's guidance.

Blood tests

On-site bloods to find inflammation, infection or other drivers — uric acid for gout, inflammatory markers and more.

Imaging consultation

Ultrasound and X-ray locally, with brain and spinal MRI arranged quickly for a clearer, more accurate diagnosis.

Injection treatment

Targeted injections — including image-guided joint and nerve-pain injections via our pain consultant — to relieve pain at the source.

Acupuncture treatment

Evidence-based acupuncture for pain relief, alongside your medical plan.

Medication treatment

The right medicines and a clear plan, prescribed and reviewed by a doctor.

Every method is chosen and overseen by a doctor. No PRP; injection scope is image-guided joint and nerve-pain injections via our pain consultant.

How it plays out

How it plays out

Illustrative cases, based on situations we see every week. Details changed; not individual patient records.

A patient talking with a doctor

A migraine, finally managed

Months of painkillers and missed days. A structured assessment found the triggers, started a prevention plan and added acupuncture — fewer attacks, back in control.

An ultrasound and diagnostics suite

Recurring tummy pain, explained

“Probably stress.” Same-day bloods and an abdominal ultrasound found the cause; the right treatment started that week — not months later.

A person walking outdoors

The knee that wasn't “just age”

Weeks of “rest and see”. Ultrasound on day one showed the problem; a guided injection settled it and an MRI was fast-tracked. Walking again, not waiting.
